Operation Christmas Hamper has been facilitated out of House of Praise Christian Church starting with 40 hampers and now 15 years on we are packing over 3100 food hampers and 100's of men's, women's, and Children's packs for the community of the central coast!
The Hamper packing commences in early-mid December but starts as early as mid-year with stock slowly filling our church hall and many amazing partners providing funds, stock and prizes for our volunteers.
Operation Christmas Hamper is a part of the broader Charity Arm of the House of Praise Christian Church - The Turning Point Foundation.
Leading up to the packing days we have many volunteers who come in to prepare, cut and wrap cakes and to wrap and prepare men's, women's and children's packs with 870 toys wrapped in 2018. On packing days, we have many organisations participating in the packing process with over 100 volunteers from different community groups. we have about 62 different community organisations that come to collect hampers, special packs and toys so that they can bless those in need in their part of the Central Coast.
We want to thank our many partners for coming alongside us every year to make this event so special:

"IT IS arguably the largest one-off annual volunteer community project on the Central Coast and “Operation Christmas Hamper” is in full swing.
On Friday, December 8, up to 30 volunteers from the House of Praise, the Gosford Red Hatters and East Gosford Rotary Club cut and wrapped 3100 Christmas cakes.
On Thursday staff from Sanitarium, Mars Foods and Wyong Rugby Leagues Club Group along with Lioness volunteers wrapped thousands of toys before they were joined by more volunteers from Mingara, the Doyalson RSL and the Benevolent Society to pack 3000 hampers last Friday.
Operation Christmas Hamper began in 2003 when Coast Shelter volunteer Warran Price met House of Praise Pastor Sandra Piefke ahead of the opening of the Donnison St homeless restaurant.
Ms Piefke introduced Mr Price to the concept of supporting those who live in isolation or hardship, such as seniors with no family, families in public housing and homeless people with hampers at Christmas.
“She had the idea, I had the contacts,” Mr Price said.
Rather than take on such a huge task on their own, they realised they needed partners such as The Salvation Army, St Vincent De Paul, Neighbourhood Centres and specialist service providers.
Starting with 400 hampers in the first year, Operation Christmas Hamper grew legs of its own rising each year to 700, 1100, 1500 and so on until it had to be capped at 3000 hampers.
“The recipients are in refuges, programs, rehabs, housing and in most cases just doing it a bit tough,” Mr Price said.
“If leading into Christmas your feeling alone and wondering where God is, then look here, he is in the people, he is in the hampers and he is in the Giving. The spirit of Christmas is alive and well on the Central Coast.”

"Words cannot express the gratitude we extend and we should all extend Operation Christmas Hamper. Sandra and Paul extend themselves every Christmas to provide 'something for everyone' with a spirit of giving at Christmas to so many families who would not have a Christmas without them...with Mr. Warren Price and his dedicated supporters from business on the Central Coast and Lower Hunter and individuals, all mentioned by Sandra, unite together in the true spirit of giving to bring together the "many hands that make light work" for this event to be the yearly success it is."
Many true thanks of gratitude and appreciation, with Gods Blessings and Good Tidings to Operation Christmas Hamper!!!!!
